HST 'technical' research highlights

Section of the HDF in BVR (left) and UBV (right). This is version 2 of the reduction. The Lyman drop-outs appear in yellow on the UBV frame.

'Technical' research at the ST-ECF is driven by HST (and related) science programmes. This year, this has included the design and analysis of the HDF-n, the extension of the data fusion techniques, a major instrument modelling effort - in close collaboration with ESO - and work with the design of the NICMOS grism parallel programme and the pipeline and quick-look software.

The archive projects are directed towards more efficient data retrieval, better calibration (using an on-the-fly technique) and easier data associations.
